By far the most common form of pulmonary embolism is a thromboembolism, which occurs when a blood clot, generally a venous thrombus, becomes dislodged from its site of formation and embolizes to the arterial blood supply of one of the lungs. Symptoms may include difficulty breathing, pain during breathing, and more rarely circulatory instability and death.

Are you going to be seeing one for genetic testing? My doc recommended the hema I saw and he was great so you may want to start with your primary's recommendation of there's no one here familiar with hemas in your area.

My doctor seems as though he doesn't think it is necessary. He said a vascular surgeon towards the end of my 6 months. I see a cardiologist Wednesday for an echocardiogram and I think I will ask him. I really just want my situation better explained to me and another opinion. I just have birth control as a factor so far and I was on it 20 years.

And yes for genetic testing. I don't think he has a lot of experience in pulmonary embolisms. I am looking for an internist as well. Just trying to take charge of my wellbeing. I let myself down last September when I talked to my OBGYN about going off birthcontol for fear of blood clots and she said if that was going to happen it would have by now. I should have pushed it and I possibly learned the hard way. Now it is my way or the highway!!
