Pulmonary Embolism Support Group
By far the most common form of pulmonary embolism is a thromboembolism, which occurs when a blood clot, generally a venous thrombus, becomes dislodged from its site of formation and embolizes to the arterial blood supply of one of the lungs. Symptoms may include difficulty breathing, pain during breathing, and more rarely circulatory instability and death.

I ran the Humboldt Half Marathon Sunday and finished as the first over 60 runner. Had a bit of an asthma problem which slowed me considerably in the first half of the race. The second half of the race was steadier. During the last two miles, the lower left side of my chest started bothering me. When I finished, I was a little faint and kept walking to keep from keeling over. I'm a little slower than I was prior to PEs but seem to be over them. I think.
Today, I'm sore. My feet, back, legs, and chest are sore. It doesn't feel like PEs but I haven't tried running since the race. Two thoughts in the back of my mind. Could the soreness be left over from the hard running or did I cause myself another problem by running so hard and then doing a 6 hour drive home? And, if I can win my age group against some very good runners, doesn't that mean I'm well?
I must be well.
Physically.
Still as crazy as ever.
Health and wisdom to you,

We all have 24 hours in a day. How we spend these hours is important. Watching a little bit of a video about how sitting affects us made me aware of how much sitting and laying down I do. Gonna have to work on that.Your turn. Tell me another truth.
Running and driving is a little-known risk for those who have FVL, 20210, or other factors without knowing it. Ideally we are a lot safer now while in treatment. I use the compression socks, elevation with alternating feet on the dashboard or over the passenger seat, and get up to walk around every two hours.
I just did my first post PE triathlon yesterday. First tri in 17 months. Not exactly a win, but 10/30 in my AG. Also did a 10K 2 Sats ago and then an 11K trail race on Sunday
Have a half marathon in Nov. and a 20K trail run in Dec.
Everything is basically back to normal, just making sure I don't fall :)

I'm really happy to read that others are getting back to regular activity. It was actually my purpose in posting. It makes me feel better whenever I read about someone else's success. I wish everyone here good health.
I also know the pain of PF. I had it in both feet for about 2 and a half years. I bought some new work shoes and it cured my right foot and ruptured the left one while running. It took about a year to completely heal but that cured the left one. Good luck with your running More2be.
apl1, Thanks for the encouraging words. My PEs had no pain associated with them until a week before I was hospitalized. I just couldn't run as fast, and for a time, had trouble going for a walk. I was just tired all the time.
cjmenjou, I'm always impressed with anyone that can manage to do the training for a triathlon. Way to go!

Raising funds for a goal race would have been something I would have enjoyed doing a few years ago. It's not something I'd be comfortable with now.
