Hello, I wanted to introduce myself. My name is Beth. I'm a 41 yo mom and wife. I am 12 days post op of a hip arthroscopy surgery to repair my labrum. A few days post op I had pain and mild swelling and lots of redness and heat in my foot. My calf hurt. Next day started experiencing shortness of breath, sweating, nausea, fainting, dizziness, anxiety, hives. I thought I was reacting to my meds. I have reactions to NSAIDs and pain meds. Two days later symptoms persisted and went to ER. They were thorough with scans and tests and found multiple pulmonary emboli in my left lung. Started me on lovenax shots. Had a second episode 2 days later with sharp chest pains with every breath. Ambulance picked me up and took me to ER. Got another lovenax shot. I had started xoralto the day before the ambulance ride. It's been a week since I initially got my diagnosis of PE caused by DVT from my surgery. This is the scariest thing I've ever had to go through and I've been through a lot. I found this support group online and thought it would be nice to talk to others with PE.

It is the scariest thing health wise that I have ever experienced as well.

I am struggling though. I am recovering from surgery and am exhausted all the time. I feel winded when having conversations or crutching around the house. My other symptoms are: anxiety, rapid heart rate, dizziness, my eyes feel like they don't want to work sometimes, foggy head, sharp lung pain when breathing, extreme fatigue and lethargic at times. Not sure if this is from medication, DVT and PE, or both.
You will probably have some of those symptoms for quite a while, especially the fatigue, pains, and anxiety. While your body doesn't look like much has happened to it on the outside, your body has definitely gone through a traumatic experience and has to deal with healing itself on the inside. As you said, the Xarelto won't actually desolve the clots, your body will do that on its own and it will just dissolve into your blood stream like the other clots usually do. But it keeps your blood thin so that no additional clots will form and make it worse. I also had a very foggy head when getting onto meds, and then again when I got off.
