By far the most common form of pulmonary embolism is a thromboembolism, which occurs when a blood clot, generally a venous thrombus, becomes dislodged from its site of formation and embolizes to the arterial blood supply of one of the lungs. Symptoms may include difficulty breathing, pain during breathing, and more rarely circulatory instability and death.

hey y'all.
my chest pains on my L side (where i had my pe in december) and my fatigue were getting worse.
i'm not the type to complain or make a big deal about things.
but my friends made me call my doc.

i called this morning.
my doc said i had to go to the ER.
ugh.
i wasn't going to go.
but my friend who runs a coumadin clinic lovingly yelled at me.

so here i am.
i have peed in a cup, had an EKG and just had a bunch of blood drawn.
they gave me an actual ER room.

here i wait.
thank goodness for laptops and wireless internet.

I'm approaching 8 hours of life on a gurney in a "hall room" in the ER- awake way past my bedtime.

It's bizarre.
All the monitors of all the other hall patients beeping, the florescent lights, no privacy, EMS rushing in, nurses running around, very sick patients rolling by me every few minutes...

I was officially admitted hours ago, but I'm waiting for a real room on a real unit.

beecute, i just got back from a meeting with SAR and am reading your posts. I am so glad your OK, OMG woman if you wanted a day off there are easier ways of going about it you know? Spending 8-10 hours in the hall way of an ER on a uncomfortable gurney isn't high on the list.
Anyway hope you get to feeling better and they find nothing on the echo.
My Prayers and love are being sent to you as we speak.

It is amazing how the world has become so intimate. You can be in the ER and send messages across the world to share with your DS friends. I am more amazed because of my age. Being 67 and not growing up with so much technology it boggles the mind. To the point, you are in the right place for checking you out. I will keep you in my thoughts today. Get better and get home to your puppy.

So glad that your CT scan was clear. Please let us know how the rest of the tests go and I'll continue to pray that all that comes back w/nothing wrong.

it was so good to not feel alone.

all of my test results came back clear and i got discharged!
yippee!

now, i need to figure out the source of the pain/discomfort.
i'm thinking it's muscular from the pe in december....

I'm late on my comments, but I'm so glad that you had no PE's, but I'm also glad that you took the advice of your friend and went to the ER! :) At least you have a laptop and were able to stay in communication with everyone!!
Get some rest and maybe take another day off since it sounds like you didn't get much sleep.

Glad to hear you're ok and that the CT scan was all clear - what a great result - woooohooo.

I loved Dero's saying "Rather be over-reacting that not reacting and be sorry". I have written that down on a post-it and will take it with me now everywhere. I only wish I had had it at my Drs today who said my PE was only 'probable' and that I need to move on!!!!!!

Really happy for you - snuggle your puppies head for me. My puppy in the dog house - he ate a 20 yesterday - rich taste!!!!!
