Presumably you need the liver biopsy so there's no point worrying about it, it's a short time and just try to take the generic precautions for clot prevention like avoiding dehydration, moving around every hour or two, etc. I am in a similar boat and had to stop my warfarin for a minor procedure, to be honest I can't even remember what it was! Your liver processes a lot of blood so stopping the anticoagulants is definitely the right thing to do. It'll be over before you know it.

When I had to stop blood thinners it was because there was a greater risk . Stay calm. There may be other medications you can take if you are taken off your regular medication to help. Every blood thinner reacts different time wise. The one your taking only takes 24 hours to be out of your system but on the positive side it doesn’t take long to get built up back into your system once you start taking it again.

I think after my last brush with a pe I am soo anxious about throwing more clots as it happens so fast on my body ans 10 days seems so long without tge medications

It's important to give your liver biopsy site time to heal. The risk of a clot on any particular day is quite low, and the doctors think it's more important to make sure your liver can stop bleeding and heal. Do you have compression stockings? They can help too as well as making sure you do ankle exercises in bed and walk around when you are able. Have you found any techniques that work for you to help control any anxiety? The battle is going to be more mental than physical for you right now. I think my personal techniques don't work very well for you but are you able to remember what helped you cope after June's episode?

Hm. I honestly dont remember what helped me. I think the first time I had one(aug 16 2016) time passing helped me alot and keeping busy. This last te however I had so much pain and a partial collapse that it was much harder to let go even now I have anxiety about it happening again while taking medication. Anyway thanks for the comments they made me feel better and put more trust in the fact that my liver ia sick and this needs to be done. Trying to take deep breaths until I am ok is whats gunna be tricky but i will keep trying. Thanks again!

I stopped mine for about a week due to side effects. The hematologist said it was no big deal to stop for a short time. I wouldn't worry about it too much. Or you can ask a hematologist to put your mind at ease.

I stopped using coumadin about 13 years ago when I first had PE in both lungs and in my right leg. I was on it for about 1 year and got off of it. I was told at the time I needed to be on it for life. I could not keep the level for the tests each 2 weeks and figured I should get off. Now 14 years later I was advised recently just 2 weeks ago I have 2 blood clots in my lungs. I am now on Eliquis this is similar to your blood thinner with the same results. I understand your concern. It is mind also. I would check with doctor if it would be best to lower the dose prior to getting off of it to lessen any possible issues. I hope you all the best. My plan for the future is to get off Eliquis, but I know it has to be slow and with the advise of a hematogist would be best.
