Pulmonary Embolism Support Group
By far the most common form of pulmonary embolism is a thromboembolism, which occurs when a blood clot, generally a venous thrombus, becomes dislodged from its site of formation and embolizes to the arterial blood supply of one of the lungs. Symptoms may include difficulty breathing, pain during breathing, and more rarely circulatory instability and death.
I just recently went to my hairdresser (who has done my baby fine hair for 4 years) and got a nice cute (sort of a short bob, but with layers in the back - a little less dramatic than that Posh Spice 'do, but the same idea). And I felt much better afterwards ... I asked her about the breakage and loss due to meds and warned her "Don't lie to me! Is it bad?!" She said the short little hairs along the front of my hair line are most likely due to meds (she's seen it before), but she said I have very little loss anywhere else and that it's probably only that noticeable to me bc it's in the front. She said she wouldn't have even noticed had I not mentioned it, and that the short hairs are a great sign that the hair is growing back and I'm not just losing it with no replacement hairs. Just goes to show you ... even if you feel like you're pulling it out in mass quantities (I know I do), it's really not as bad as we imagine. I have baby fine hair - I mean really baby fine, so not a lot to lose! She said, just make sure to keep coming in every 6 weeks and get it trimmed as that will keep it healthier and looking fuller.
Sorry I'm not much help with the nutritional advice, but I think others here have posted about that ... so hopefully they'll chime in!
Khurney1, I have the same exact thing with the baby hair along my forehead. I was going to try Rogaine, but my hairdresser said it would be hard on my hair. Ugh, I don't know.
Good news for those who aren't going to be on warfarin for life. It does grow back. In between clots, I was off of it for 6 weeks and my hair started coming in pretty quickly.
The older posts also noted some kind of shampoo, Biolage as one that was helpful.
I'll check back in once I get a message back from my doc.
:o)
I was just looking at all my lil hairs by my hair line that are growing back, and thinking of you...next time i see my hairdresser Ill ask her too, but yeh I just got my hair long, much longer than in my DS pic... but I dont want it to be all stringy!!!!
Nancy
Of course, this is not something I'm proud
of :(
My hematologist is out thru Monday, so I'm afraid no answer til then. I was thinking about iron supplements anyway as I do have a tendency to ever-so-slight anemia, but I want to find out the "safe" dosage.
I'll definitely check out the Rogaine and Biolage as I still have 7 months on this stuff!
I'm with ya, Cupcake ... I feel like even since I wrote on 11/2 that things weren't so bad ... now I'm pulling more and more hair out the last few days. :'o( Boo hoo! Of course, I don't notice it throughout the course of the day these days, like I did before. It's only in the shower in the morning.
*sigh* Thanks everyone!
