Pulmonary Embolism Support Group
By far the most common form of pulmonary embolism is a thromboembolism, which occurs when a blood clot, generally a venous thrombus, becomes dislodged from its site of formation and embolizes to the arterial blood supply of one of the lungs. Symptoms may include difficulty breathing, pain during breathing, and more rarely circulatory instability and death.

So I have been having horrible bleeding. This cycle I am bleeding about half a pint a day.....normal periods should be less than 80 ml for the duration.....I've been bleeding like this for at least 8 days....
Went to ER last night, because showing symptoms of anemia, hemoglobin dropped from 12 on Thursday to 9 last night. And there was nothing that could be done about the bleeding.
Pulmonologist called today and told me to stop the coumadin immediately because any remaining benefit of the coumadin is totally outweighed by the bleeding and risk of severe anemia from heavy blood loss.
So as of today I am off coumadin entirely, and am looking forward to having some salads, looking forward to the bleeding easing off. and feeling like my body is not being poisoned.
I feel nothing but relief at this point.
Original timing was 9/17 for a scan and further decisions.

We all have 24 hours in a day. How we spend these hours is important. Watching a little bit of a video about how sitting affects us made me aware of how much sitting and laying down I do. Gonna have to work on that.Your turn. Tell me another truth.
Talked to doc yesterday and transfusions are too risky, he would not say why. But he's going to retest at the end of the week to see where my numbers are then....I expect them to go down 2-3, because the bleeding has eased off a little, but is still way up there.
I've had both, for different reasons. The blood transfusion was done while I was in the ICU with my PE, so I was closely monitored. The iron infusions can be done outpatient but you're closely monitored as well, as there's a risk of reaction too but holy cow, they really have helped me in the past when I've had sever anemia. Maybe if you have some other health conditions, it's more risky.
I will ask about the iron infusion, because I understand that with the supplements, it could take years, and I am tired of sacrificing years of my life to this stuff.....This is my third year with serious health issues, and i am ready to be soooo done.
Good luck.
I guess it wasn't perimenopause after all....yup, one doc told me that, and I told her I have 15 months of cycle data and a pharmaceutical that say she's not using Occum's Razor correctly.
So the question is, do I get my lab done tonight or what. my anemia symptoms are worst today.
But I will talk to him about iron infusion as well.
This is a good list of iron rich foods identified by which are the most easily absorbed (heme iron) to those that are still a good source of iron but not as easily absorbed
