Pulmonary Embolism Support Group
By far the most common form of pulmonary embolism is a thromboembolism, which occurs when a blood clot, generally a venous thrombus, becomes dislodged from its site of formation and embolizes to the arterial blood supply of one of the lungs. Symptoms may include difficulty breathing, pain during breathing, and more rarely circulatory instability and death.
I used the USDA Nutrient Database to get familiar with those foods that are extremely high in Vit. K. I make sure I don't binge on those. Otherwise, I eat all the veggies I want and my INR remains stable.
Vit K is in almost everything. You will drive yourself crazy if you try to track them all and probably will end up with an unhealthy diet.

One cup of papaya has about half that amount.
Fairly small amounts for the big picture, unless you eat several at a time, which I certainly can't afford. :)
Jenlozi---- who told you to avoid mangoes and papayas?
" It's good to be informed about which foods are high vitamin k"
Exactly!
Or to be informed about foods which don't have a lot of Vit K that might be eaten in multiples and then add up to 'high Vit K'.
Or to be informed which favorite foods you have that are low in Vit K.
Or to be informed about foods that aren't green but still are fairly high in Vit K, such as cauliflower or blueberries or one Burger King Whopper (57 mcg of Vit K and no green except maybe for a pickle slice or two.)
Being informed doesn't mean obsessing. An example, just today, was a post by a member who had been told that papayas and mangos were to be avoided. I prefer to 'know' rather than to guess or to believe a friend OR a mis-informed person/site.
I was told at my anti-coag clinic, when first dx'd, to not eat beets!
I knew almost nothing about Vit K at that point but since I like beets I just had to explore. What the clinic should have had printed out on that handy-dandy sheet was to avoid beet GREENS--- not beets!
That's when I decided that if no one else was looking out for my health and eating pleasure---- then I'd better darned well do it myself! And to try to help others untangle the gnarly web of mis-information about Vit K and 'greens'.
adjust my dosage. And it has worked I stay fairly stable, And he
has me on 100 mg of Vit K..
