By far the most common form of pulmonary embolism is a thromboembolism, which occurs when a blood clot, generally a venous thrombus, becomes dislodged from its site of formation and embolizes to the arterial blood supply of one of the lungs. Symptoms may include difficulty breathing, pain during breathing, and more rarely circulatory instability and death.

Well, it finally happened. My first real cut on coumadin. Two years of being careful, and then I lost a battle with an open soup can yesterday. LOL Lid sliced right into the palm of my hand. After 45 minutes of bleeding, figured it might be a good idea to go to the ER. 5 stitches. Whoops!

I had to use a cast cover over the arm where there was a PICC line inserted --- for 17 months. (Peripherally Inserted Central Catheter)

I could shower every day, wash my hair with no worries about infecting the site of insertion.

Not too pricey. But NOT getting one would be a good excuse for going to the beauty salon for a shampoo---- plus not washing dishes. LOL

When I couldn't get my hand wet in the shower, I put on a rubber glove and taped the top closed with waterproof tape. Worked great! So glad your cut wasn't worse.

I agree with RMB! I need a personal chef! I am glad that you finally went to ER and that they stopped the bleeding.
