eliminating rhuematoid arthritis rx's cause of pul

I was diagnosed with 2 pulmonary embolisms and pulmonary hypertension and dvt's both legs last march 4th. My primary and vascular surgeon both suggested I sto the Ibuprophen 800 and the prednesone that I was taking for my rhuematoid arthritis. I also take remicade, methotrexate and folic acid for the ra. Needless to say, I flared up almost immediately and can hardly get up from a sitting position, has this happened to any of you with ra and pe, and if so, what did your dr. do for the inflamation, and did it work? Appreciate anything I can possibly discuss with my rhuemy next month, thanks.

I don't have RA, but I have ulcerative colitis. I wasn't on pred though at the time I was on warfarin so it wasn't an issue. I have been able to continue with Imuran and folic acid. I also take fish oil supps.

You may want to start with your pharmacist to see if he can suggest alternatives to discuss with your rhuemy to discuss. I'm sure there are alternatives. But they may not be as effective.

It stinks two have two issue going on at once, I know. Do they think your clots are related to the RA?

They are very puzzled as to what caused the dvt ant pe's, don't fit the profile, no long trips, no falls or recent surgery. All I know is remicade will not take care of my ra by itself. And tylenol never did anything for me, so that's out.

Hi Deborah, I have recently had my PEs so I'm not a wealth of information but I also have Fibromyalgia which is like a muscular arthritis. My specialist told me it was best to go off everything when you take warfarin including fish oil but I haven't. I take Dothiepin Hydrochloride which is like an old fashioned anti-depressant. I take it at a low dose and the specialist wants me to wean off it but that is ok for him. He is not the one who can't walk in the morning and has to crawl to the bathroom. So I have reduced the Dothep but I still take 6 fish oil capsules a day, making sure they are good quality so they don't muck around the INR too much. The doctor thinks the fish oil capsules are not consistent enough and who knows what is in them. i take folic acid too everyday but not for arthritis, does it help with arthritic conditions?

The folic acid is for side effects caused by the methotrexate, like mouth sores, etc. When I see my rhuemy next month, if he says I can continue the inflamatory meds then I will. He doesn't always agree with others, and will not let me suffer needlessly. If nothing else, he'll come up wth something. I hope so anyway, I can't even pop ice out of trays anymore or squeese a shampoo bottle with one hand, this is ridiculous, you know?

    We all have 24 hours in a day.  How we spend these hours is important.  Watching a little bit of a video about how sitting affects us made me aware of how much sitting and laying down I do.  Gonna have to work on that.Your turn.  Tell me another truth.
