By far the most common form of pulmonary embolism is a thromboembolism, which occurs when a blood clot, generally a venous thrombus, becomes dislodged from its site of formation and embolizes to the arterial blood supply of one of the lungs. Symptoms may include difficulty breathing, pain during breathing, and more rarely circulatory instability and death.
Took me 6 months but I finally was able to coordinate a INR of less than 3 and an opening at the dentist office. Whoop! Never thought I would be so glad to have my teeth cleaned. :-)

LOL! I bet the hygienist appreciated your efforts too. My last cleaning my INR was in the 3's - I didn't even think about not going in though. The hygienist just kept rinsing and suctioning (and probably cursing me under her breath the whole time).

Yeah, I rarely have a high INR but I don't even think about it. I just schedule my 6 month cleanings and go regardless of my INR. My hygienist and dentist know I'm on warfarin and they'll comment sometimes that I've got a little bit of blood but they don't seem to worried about it which makes me feel not so worried about it.

Yesterday I went to the dentist for the first time since being on warfarin. I didn't even think about not going, it didn't occur to me that it would be a problem - and it wasn't really. The only thing is every time she like suctioned my mouth I would see bright red liquid go down the tube and when I got up to leave I looked on the tray that had been behind me and there were all these tissues with lots of blood on them lol, but it stopped bleeding pretty quickly and it was all fine.
