Pulmonary Embolism Support Group
By far the most common form of pulmonary embolism is a thromboembolism, which occurs when a blood clot, generally a venous thrombus, becomes dislodged from its site of formation and embolizes to the arterial blood supply of one of the lungs. Symptoms may include difficulty breathing, pain during breathing, and more rarely circulatory instability and death.

I was diagnosed with PEs in both lungs on May 8th, 2010. My cortisol levels were double what they should be and needless to say my healing process was filled with anxiety and fear. I couldn't understand how in the world this could happen to me. I was 45 yrs old, and had always been in great health. It was the darkest summer of my life.
After 6 months on warfarin my doctor took me off the blood thinners and ran a leg scan. It came back negative! Genetic blood clotting disorder tests all came back negative in December so I am off blood thinners and taking an aspirin everyday. My cortisol levels are now back in normal range, and I feel like a new person.
The doctors have concluded that my clots were caused by birth control pills. I was on a high estrogen BC pill for 5 weeks to shrink an 8cm ovarian cyst, and during that time was diagnosed with PEs.
I thank all of you here for helping me through the darkest summer of my life.. I can't tell you the number of times I signed on to this support group, all hours of the day and night, and found so much comfort and encouragement. I contribute my recovery to lots of prayers, a loving family, the amazing PE survivors on this message board, and a really, really , great therapist !
I've always admired people who have survived difficult circumstances, and have come out on the other side a better person. I finally feel like I am that person.
I will continue to check in with my "Pulmonary Embolism" support group. I wish you all much health. I admire each of you. :) Lisa

She basically had been monopolizing conversations for that long too. She pretty much stopped asking me questions about me. I passed her in front of her classroom the other day and didn't even look at her. I am...
