I just wanted to share my experience from yesterday! I am a house cleaner and was cleaning a brewery.. this was the first time I didn’t wear gloves while cleaning the urinals and sliced my finger open on the urinal which was cut out of an old beer keg and was very sharp! I immediately told my boss who told me “it’s just a scratch it’ll stop bleeding” and washed it really well and put pressure on it and sat down. It was bleeding pretty bad so I decided to call the doctor because I’m on xarelto and was very concerned about infection because of cutting it on a urinal! They told me go right to urgent care and make sure I don’t need stitches and to start antibiotics immediately! I was out in the middle of no where and since my boss didn’t think my finger was urgent we finished cleaning and she took me back to my car and I went to urgent care. They took a look at my finger and agreeded I needed stitches. My finger bled through 6 paper towels a wash cloth and 2 gauze bandage and tape band aids! I’ve never bled so much! I received two stitches and it was still bleeding 3 hours after getting the stitches but a lot slower. It now has stopped but I could not believe how much blood came out of such a small cut! My blood is definitely thinner and xarelto must be doing it’s job lol be careful while on anticoagulants! The bleeding is not a joke! I learned a very hard lesson yesterday to always wear gloves and be very careful!
