By far the most common form of pulmonary embolism is a thromboembolism, which occurs when a blood clot, generally a venous thrombus, becomes dislodged from its site of formation and embolizes to the arterial blood supply of one of the lungs. Symptoms may include difficulty breathing, pain during breathing, and more rarely circulatory instability and death.

Coumadin ended, vitamin k intake

Now that I am off of coumadin, I am wondering if I should be concerned with eating spinach, salads etc and how it would affect my clotting. I realize from reading that vitamin k is important to your bodies ability to clot, but can too much cause your clotting factor to increase?

No you can eat what you want. Warfarin works against vitamin k which is why it can be an issue when on warfarin. Now that you're off warfarin, it's a moot point.

Yep. The issue with K is that it makes warfarin not work.... obviously a problem if you HAVE clots. If you aren't taking warfarin, your K intake it isn't an issue.

I mean, no one is like, "Oooh, you're a vegetarian, that's puts you an increased risk for clotting!" Just doesn't work like that.

That's what I thought, but it is good to hear re-enforcement from everyone, if only for my peace of mind

    We all have 24 hours in a day.  How we spend these hours is important.  Watching a little bit of a video about how sitting affects us made me aware of how much sitting and laying down I do.  Gonna have to work on that.Your turn.  Tell me another truth.
