Because we're on warfarin or because of having a PE? I think most of us are told that a drink or two while on warfarin is fine and I think a some of the alcohol is reduced during the cooking process anyway

I DO have an occasional glass of wine, never in a consistent way, but I never worry about it. But because that recipe sounds so good---- I may just have it every night!

Pretty sure the alcohol steams off during cooking. Either way, I can't imagine this would be enough alcohol to worry about.

(Actually I could never drink an entire beer---- a few sips and I'd feel bloated. But--- martini's------ there's another story.)

Since you referenced the recipe with beer I assumedyou'be using beer but any way.... I cook with wine and beer frequently. It's really shouldn't cause a problem

Alcohol cooks off rather quickly, it's the flavor it leaves behind that you're looking for when you cook with it.

I wouldn't worry about cooking with it at all.

Ah, cave, I missread what you wrote; I thought it said "no beer for me.". I gotta bite the bullet and get those bifocals.

I've had bifocals since the fourth grade. Super-hot, lemme tell ya.

Speaking of bifocals----- I tried for years to use bifocals. I tried VERY hard to get used to them but no luck. After spending a lot of money on different ones/frames I gave up.

Then years later a wise opthamologist told me because of the shape of my eyeballs and the differences between them---- bifocals would never be right for me.

I hope those other eye doctors spent my money well!

I've had bifocals for year and just started cooking with wine and beer and brandy (great recipe for steak and brandy) in the last few years. And it has caused no problem with my INR. I did read on a diabetic forum that the alcohol does not cook off as quickly or as completely as was once believed, but I still don't see a problem. As my doctor tells me "moderation". Of course he also told me don't make drastic changes in what you do....so, if you want that recipe every day...you should have no problem. Like I was told, if I eat a salad every day don't stop now. I generally have not given my food much thought. I eat the healthy things I had started to eat before the PE, so I just kept on. However, the other night I saw a side dish at a local restaurant for garlic and lemon spinach. Now, I haven't eaten spinach in quite some time and not thinking, I got some. And then admitted what I had done and the doctor laughed and said don't stress. And my INR did not change. Co-incidentally had it done a few days after the spinach. They seem to have more concern if they change or add or subtract one of my other meds.
