Pulmonary Embolism Support Group
By far the most common form of pulmonary embolism is a thromboembolism, which occurs when a blood clot, generally a venous thrombus, becomes dislodged from its site of formation and embolizes to the arterial blood supply of one of the lungs. Symptoms may include difficulty breathing, pain during breathing, and more rarely circulatory instability and death.
As well, may I knwo since how long you have lung infarction?
Thank you.
I was diagnosed with my PEs in 2007. I fully recovered. It can take some time to feel good though. The first few months after diagnosis were a little challenging. I’d say that’s just part of the heeling your body needs to do after having a PE.
Infractions are basically tissue death in the lungs that will eventually turn to scar tissue. I’d discuss any concerns with your doctor to see if they think there is cause for concern, or a pulmonologist consult is needed.
My pulmonologist told me that I have small infarction. But I was very concerned, I thought it might be fatal but he couldnt tell me.
Two more question if u please:
1. Did this infarction make any changes in your life, like being unable to go to the gym or doing heavy workout?
2. Do u remember the medications u have used for ur PE?
Eventually I got my stamina back and was able to do my normal physical stuff but I’d recommend starting off slow. For me I don’t the infarction was the sole issue. It just takes some time for your body to return to normal from the PE. I had shortness of breath and some intermittent chest pain in and of for a few months after the PE but I still tried to exercise, I still went to work, etc. I would say just be patient with your body.
I had very large clots in both lungs, heart damage from the PE (which eventually corrected itself) and was in critical condition when I was diagnosed and I am perfectly fine. So just know that you can have some complications but it doesn’t necessarily mean you will have a lifetime of problems. If your doctor says it’s ok to start exercising do it, but just be mindful. You may wasn’t to start with some light walking or the stationary bike and go from there.
Wish u all the best
