By far the most common form of pulmonary embolism is a thromboembolism, which occurs when a blood clot, generally a venous thrombus, becomes dislodged from its site of formation and embolizes to the arterial blood supply of one of the lungs. Symptoms may include difficulty breathing, pain during breathing, and more rarely circulatory instability and death.
All, I am just past 4 months post PE. I had pneumonia last year, which translated into Adult Onset Asthma, which manifests mostly (I think) as my chest strapped down, coughing and anxiety. The chest constriction was mild with just the asthma, then I had the PE and it's gotten worse and never goes away.....it's gotten worse as I get farther away from the PE, even though my asthma peak flows have improved from what they were after the PE.....It was just the left, but this week now, it's the right too. Scans show that there is still some effect of the PE in my left lung, but the right hurts too.
Went to ER Monday for the asthma, spent 5 hours, wasted a day, then exhausted because of the meds etc.
Add to that, my 16th day of bleeding (spotting to light the whole time, thank goodness, but REALLY?
Also I had an Echo yesterday and have a big bruise just under the outside of my left breast, which has not yet risen, but it's a doozey, no bras for me for a while as my underwire will hit right there.
So anyone else have this feeling? Please tell me this is not the rest of my life, and that it will get better, because right now, I am ready to cry for the 3rd day in a row. And since i had since the pneumonia and it's getting worse, well, I don't know what to think.

We all have 24 hours in a day. How we spend these hours is important. Watching a little bit of a video about how sitting affects us made me aware of how much sitting and laying down I do. Gonna have to work on that.Your turn. Tell me another truth.
Can I guarantee that things will get better---- maybe not, but the chances are pretty darned good. Too many people here get a revised version of their life back to show that those are good odds.
You said you had a big bruise now----- was that where electrodes were placed for your echo?
Cave76, for an echocardiogram, they do use electrodes, but mostly they use a ultrasound wand to take pics of the heart, and then measurements, much like they do with baby USs. But bellies are squishy. Rib cages are not, as much as the tech tried to make it so.
The bruise is on the outside left, just starting to show some color today, 30 hours after the injury. I can't wear a regular bra to work tomorrow, so I guess it will be a sports bra and uniboob.
