Pulmonary Embolism Support Group
By far the most common form of pulmonary embolism is a thromboembolism, which occurs when a blood clot, generally a venous thrombus, becomes dislodged from its site of formation and embolizes to the arterial blood supply of one of the lungs. Symptoms may include difficulty breathing, pain during breathing, and more rarely circulatory instability and death.
I have read as well as being told by Drs. that we are more prone to getting respitory issues because of the PE's.
My last PE (2 days ago) I had just gotten over a head cold and thought oh great now its moved down into my chest..... I did end up going to the ER because of that famous sense of doom we sometimes speak about getting, or call it our intuition or even our 6th sense. Well guess what it was a good thing I went in because I had another PE in my right lung. I'm not trying to panic any of you but when you have lung pain or chest congestion Get your Butts in and get them checked immediately. With our history you never know if it is another PE or not. We can't afford to take the chances, and its better safe than sorry.

I live in Arizona and the air quality is really bad. So I can tell when I've been outside and I start coughing more and need my inhaler. I'm sorry that you're having these infections, but like Ferr said- get things checked out. No need to hesitate...
It looks like you might live in Great Britan-
you might want to check out Dawn's old posts or several other sweet ladies (loveheart) to see how they dealt with the "health system" and which direction to seek for a consult...
You'll soon find out that the people on here are fantastic! They are the most knowledgeable, sympathetic and helpful friends you could have because we've all been where you are right now. If you have the time to trawl through some of the older posts om here I bet you will find very very similar symptoms and emotions to your own.
Its very early days for you so be kind to yourself and take it easy - I'm also in the UK so feel free to ask me anything about NHS treatment etc - love Sandie x
I'm off to get my INR levels checked today, they'd got me stable enough to go every 2 weeks but the antibiotics messed my levels up before so it's back to twice a week until this course is finished. The steroids are helping with my breathing but I will still ask to get checked out by the gp just to be sure.
I go back to the clinic on fri 13th (oooooh) feb, my consultant is really nice but in hospital I didn't really know what kind of things to ask. My mum still laughs as all I was really panicking about was not being out in time to get my christmas shopping done!
I notice many people had multiple clots, I was "lucky" in that I only had 1 but they told me they were amazed I was with it because it had almost blocked the entire blood supply to both of my lungs.
This is why I am panicking and wondering how much damage has actually been done. I get tests done after my 6 mnths on warfarin but it seems a long time to wait when you need answers.
Thanks again to all of you, I'll have a read of the old posts when I get back, this site really does have some lovely people on x
Well a bit of good news is my INR is 2.5 despite being on the antibiotics etc so I have a week before I have to go back; woohoo! I'm absolutely terrified of needles and even the fingerprick test bring me out shaking and sweating. They're used to me now though and are lovely to me, still a week off is going to be bliss!!
I hope you're feeling better soon. I know that getting a cough after this is horrible, so I really feel for you.
Sarah
