Pulmonary Embolism Support Group
By far the most common form of pulmonary embolism is a thromboembolism, which occurs when a blood clot, generally a venous thrombus, becomes dislodged from its site of formation and embolizes to the arterial blood supply of one of the lungs. Symptoms may include difficulty breathing, pain during breathing, and more rarely circulatory instability and death.
Are you on warfarin? If you're really concerned you could go to urgent care, although I don't know that I'd trust them with anything PE related, but they could listen to your lungs and stuff.
I've found that even the most rudimentary illness takes on new (scary) life after PEs. Mostly likely you've just got a horrid cold and the anxiety is elevating parts of it to new heights.
Not that I blame you. After PEs, the smallest thing can really set your mind racing. If you were sick like this before your PEs, would it have worried you?
If you're really gonna be stressed about this all day today, it might be worth getting checked out at a minor emergency clinic or something. Another option is to call back your doc and ask to be put on the waiting list for the day in case someone else cancels.
Hang in there!
I STILL have times where an upper respiratory issue messes with my head, and I think, ok, what's going on. I think it's something most of us kind of struggle with after a PE.
