Pulmonary Embolism Support Group
By far the most common form of pulmonary embolism is a thromboembolism, which occurs when a blood clot, generally a venous thrombus, becomes dislodged from its site of formation and embolizes to the arterial blood supply of one of the lungs. Symptoms may include difficulty breathing, pain during breathing, and more rarely circulatory instability and death.
OK. So, once upon a time I was a camp counselor and we used to do this exercise called "Buckthorns and Wild Roses" at the end of the sessions to kind of go over what was really good and really bad about the last week. It has been a real up-and-down week for me, so I thought I would resurrect this, just to work through some of it. Feel free to join in!
Buckthorns to ... CRUTCHES, my foot turning black and blue, multiple trips to the doctor, and high INRs.
Wild roses to ... bubble baths, my co-worker who offered to amputate my foot "for cheap", my husband for fussing over me the last few nights and bringing me comfort food, a full night's sleep, Mountain Dew, the marvelous folks here at DS, and weekends.

We all have 24 hours in a day. How we spend these hours is important. Watching a little bit of a video about how sitting affects us made me aware of how much sitting and laying down I do. Gonna have to work on that.Your turn. Tell me another truth.

Roses to...A GREAT 23rd birthday Friday, a daddy-daughter day today, warmer weather heading our way and hopefully getting off blood thinners soon!
Wild Roses to: feeling better today, knowing I need to be more mindful as I recover and accepting that, and having an awesome family around me who care. And this group!
Wildroses to: Antibiotics and a wonderful internist. Sense of humor, and getting over myself.
Buckthorns: That darn tickle deep in the throat that triggers coughing for some reason that I don't know why.
Roses: Coumadin Clinic - finger pricks beat drawn blood any day. (Feel for you, Susan).
Roses: Having my own oximeter - $60 well spent because it removes doubt as to the real progress being made.
