Pulmonary Embolism Support Group
By far the most common form of pulmonary embolism is a thromboembolism, which occurs when a blood clot, generally a venous thrombus, becomes dislodged from its site of formation and embolizes to the arterial blood supply of one of the lungs. Symptoms may include difficulty breathing, pain during breathing, and more rarely circulatory instability and death.

I'm bridging off coumadin with lovenox 40 mg but only once a day. I thought lovenox lasted only 12 hours. Is this still going to protect me from clotting?

I've seen some doc's do only one shot a day but I always do two. May depend on the dosage. Don't know though. I'd verify with your doc that the dosing is correct for you.

I guess one is sufficient for prophylaxis. I looked back at my medical records and when I came out of the hospital it was 20mg in the am and 20mg in the pm. This is that dosage just all at one time.
