By far the most common form of pulmonary embolism is a thromboembolism, which occurs when a blood clot, generally a venous thrombus, becomes dislodged from its site of formation and embolizes to the arterial blood supply of one of the lungs. Symptoms may include difficulty breathing, pain during breathing, and more rarely circulatory instability and death.

Nov 2008 massive bilateral pulmonary embolli. Critically ill, long recovery. Warfarin for 13 mths, then baby aspirin. Attributed to broken ankle and the pill.
5 years later flew to Australia all ok
Started having palpitations couple years ago. About 5 a year for an hour each, always in the early morning. On Sunday I had one in early evening, pulse 200, breathless, felt heart jumping ou t of chest. Had to use defibrillator to shock back in to rhythm. 02 sats 90% on 3l oxygen.
D dimmer and x Ray clear, calfs when measured both same size. Medical team and cardio pushing me back and forth. Awaiting echocardiogram. Now on a beta blocker and cardio guy wants me on xarelto for at least 6 wks. On bp medicine 6 mths, fairly stable. Now heart in normal rhythm, bp ok and 02 sats 94-95% exc oxygen. Just feel v tired.
Any advice???

We all have 24 hours in a day. How we spend these hours is important. Watching a little bit of a video about how sitting affects us made me aware of how much sitting and laying down I do. Gonna have to work on that.Your turn. Tell me another truth.
When is your echo? Did you previously have heart problems diagnosed from your PE?
I don't really have any advice unfortunately, except to just try to take it easy until they can get this sorted out. What do they think is going on?
Last echo showed v mild mitral valve regurgitation. 2 x first cousins have AFib. Still in hospital so taking it easy!
Cardio registar last night said was SVT? But cardiac Consultant this am said AFib...
AFIB is the irregular heart beat and SVT is the racing heart beat, right?
I'd ask to get clarification on that for sure, what exactly do you have and what is the treatment. I'd also ask if they think it's directly related to having had a PE in 2008, or if this is a completely independent issue.
They'll get it sorted out for you. Sorry you're having trouble again. Not fun.
