By far the most common form of pulmonary embolism is a thromboembolism, which occurs when a blood clot, generally a venous thrombus, becomes dislodged from its site of formation and embolizes to the arterial blood supply of one of the lungs. Symptoms may include difficulty breathing, pain during breathing, and more rarely circulatory instability and death.
A Dr. Suresh Vedantham is one of the investigators in a study for DVT (sponsored by the NIH) is posting on the Deep Vein Thrombosis forum here at DS.
He has posted several time there letting people know of this study. One of the threads is:

It's a shame that he didn't post that on a separate thread because he did attract the attention of people who thought he was posting 'for his own personal advantage' and then called a spammer!
