When you feel better and are up to it, you need to lay into that pharmacist who should have told you verbally there was a change in the pill or dose. Seriously, let him/her know that.

I'm so glad that your getting better and I hope you get out of ICU soon. Do not be to hard on yourself. When my dose was changed to 10 mg the doctor wrote the prescribtion for 10 mg tabs (I was used to taking two 5 mg tabs). The night a picked up the 10 mg tabs I was in a rush and by mistake I took 20mg instead of 10. I realized my mistake just before I fell asleep that night. Thank God that one mess up did not cause me sany problems.

been there done that. the first week home i had been so sick from surgeries and a multitude of other complications. stayed with a friend and had the medication right near me bad idea mixed up the pain med and warfarin so for two days took 5 mg three times a day. fortunately my friend caught me and hand fed me meds till i was more lucid. recently my doc changed my oxocodone from 5 mg to 10 i had to fill it at a different pharmacy i thought because my reg pharmacy was out. when i took my med holy cow what a shock i could hardly stand up. just the very moment i get complacent i get zapped.
. one of the things i did while i was still on warfarin because walmart is famous for changing manufacturers from one prescription refill to the next was after double checking every thing i kept a piece of paper in my medicine box in writing saying 1 mg COLOR=== 2 mg === ect and when the doc called with a change i immediately changed it in the daily medication holder and in the box wrote it day by day m-5 t-6 w-5 ect the moment it was changed i threw it out while i was on the phone with the clinic AND KEPT THE BOX LOCKED TO MANY KIDS.
i am so glad you are alright things could have been so much worse. you have survived two life threatening situations we need a pulmonary embolism version of the purple heart and who has survived the most complications and maintains a thankful and cheerful heart for surviving. on a good note now that it has happened it won't happen twice.

wow - that is incredibly scary. i always wondered what would happen if an INR suddenly got too high. i've never even heard of an INR that was "incalculable." i'm so glad you'll be OK.

Thank you for all the feedback. Doing better but they found blood in my uterus is still there and not being absorbed, so a few overies had cycts that are bleeding? and not sure they are going to let me out of the hospital. I imagine this is due to the thin thin, really thin blood. Getting bored in hospital, and trying not to stress about possible surgery to get overies that are bleeding out!

my thoughts and prayers are with you!

stay right where you are till it is resolved you are so much safer. no heroics or impatient moves.in some hospitals the nurses will play cards with you when they are caught up. never hurts to go look for a bored nurse.if there is such a thing.

Tif, just remember they won't do any kind of surgeries until your INR is in a much, much lower range like 1.0 or such. By then maybe the problem of the ovaries will have resolved themselves. cysts on ovaries are nasty little buggers and hopefully you won't have to have the ovaries removed. Have they been giving you vitamin K to bring your protime levels down?
They should be doing daily protime levels on you so make sure you ask for the results, also ask about what your platlett counts are to make sure those are coming into normal range too. Do you have a cell phone with any games on it? As I'm sure if your still in ICU your not going to find a nurse who is caught up on charting and other things, and probably wont be able to play cards with you. Icu is and can be an extremely busy place. Hope all goes well for you and remember your in all of our prayers for a speedy recovery.

OUT OF HOSPITAL!!! arm and leg still sore, will take a couple weeks for blood to absorb. My understanding is that when the blood gets so thin is seeps into muscle and somehow compresses the nerves, very painful, but so much better then it was. NO SURGERY! for now anyway, 2 cysts and one just grew bigger and needs to be watched, belly doesn't hurt as much I just have to hold it if I laugh or cough. INR 2.3, not going back to that doctor but they had to send her my hospital records because she is the doctor of record, happy she will see what I went thru, but goihg to have new doctor call to get records transfered.

What a summer so far! tired, but home, my kids are happy to see me, my husband is so stressed out, the cats aren't too mad, and the fish don't really care! I am trying to stay calm and be upbeat, I just keep thinking this should be it by now, I've had enough medical issues to last a while? I was a liberal arts major in college, so I am learning a lot about the body? Funny, I really look forward to these postings, not just to me but all of them. THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU! INR 2.3! they dont' want me too high because they worry about too much higher INR will set off more bleeding in overies. FUN FUN FUN!

You have certainly been through so much.....it looks like your positive approach and good sense of humour helped you out enormously.

you have been through so much. i am glad to see you are home. i remember when i was chronically anemic on warfarin i was told something about the blood twas leaching through the vessels. for me in part with another issue is why i am on lovenoc because it could not be stopped.
i am glad to hear you switched drs. not worth anyone making that kind of mistake getting a second chance on you. hope you find a really good dr. glad your home for your children.
