Symptoms may include difficulty breathing, pain during breathing, and more rarely circulatory instability and death.

About to leave the hospital after first PE

I had the EKOS procedure with TPA for multiple large clots in both lungs. It is terrifying because I still have chest pain and get short of breath and just going to the bathroom is exhausting. I want to go home just scared I have a 4 year old daughter and an elderly mother to care for. My husband is ready to return to work as soon as I get home. He isn't understanding the fear I have or how serious this was. I was wondering how long the symptoms last? I have had dvts in the past but I never felt this coming. I was off my  elliquis for a month which was my fault I can out of refills and a week turned into 2 then a month and I thought I had the flu like everyone else. My mistake was almost a fatal one. I am just overwhelmed with this.

Dont worry I'm going through the same thing I have a 2yr old and a 4 month old ,from what I've read online ,and just checking out a bunch of you tube videos the symptoms that you are having are normal and it will take some time to get back
Breathing properly ,maybe 6months depending on how big the clot was. What type of blood thinner are you on.

They have me on eliquis 10mg 2 times a day for the next ten days then 10 mg once a day. I was released from the hospital today feeling exhausted but happy to be with my little girl. Getting lots of hugs

You will be fatigued for a while and even though you had tPA you still may feel shortness of breath and chest pains at times. Glad you are home. Hang in there.

How soon is too soon to go back to work being that I too am still feeling chest pains and slightly short of breath. With normal walking around my house, my heart starts to race and I quickly get overheated. My boss wants me back at work after only 1 week out. And I definitely don't want to lose my job, but I don't want to lose my life either.

    We all have 24 hours in a day.  How we spend these hours is important.  Watching a little bit of a video about how sitting affects us made me aware of how much sitting and laying down I do.  Gonna have to work on that.Your turn.  Tell me another truth.
