Pulmonary Embolism Support Group
By far the most common form of pulmonary embolism is a thromboembolism, which occurs when a blood clot, generally a venous thrombus, becomes dislodged from its site of formation and embolizes to the arterial blood supply of one of the lungs. Symptoms may include difficulty breathing, pain during breathing, and more rarely circulatory instability and death.

Hi all,
Today is my 6 months anniversary...its almost like the weeks flew by in a way.
When I look back to the beginning I was a totally different person, this experience has forced me to evolve as a person. I've gained so many good charactoristics and coping tools for myself living through this, and really found out just how strong I am!
All and all, i suppose that my recovery is on schedule as I am getting more physical every week, pushing my limits a tiny bit more. With the pushing ive been doing I experience some chest aches and muscles aches when I over do it, I do not feel like I experience any issue breathing anymore. As for my rapid heartrate, I know my heartrate base line is naturally high so usually resting at night is between 80-85(when I first had my pe my resting rate would be 100 or like 110 sometimes) I do notice when I am anxious or nervous that it tends to pound and race a bit, I was nervous about our good friend Sharon last night and I think I counted my pulse at like 95 but some of my friend adevan helped me out, and of course when I found out that her PEs are gone I was very relieved!
Mentally Im still anxious, and hypervigilant of my health, but now that ive been in therapy every week I seem to have a better handle on fighting down those illogical worries. I have tried to resume my life as much as possible and I will be starting work full time in the beginning of Jan. which im kinda nervous about.
Im trying to mend my relationship which unfortunately got stressed to the point of hanging on by a thread bc of this pe situation, but it looks like things will be ok.
Over all, Im very nervous looking into the future, thinking about having the genetic tests done again in june. But I try remind myself that its too far away to worry right now. I have an appointment with a pulmonologist on the 18th just a check up I guess hopfully all will be well, I will take him my ct scans so he can see the "before and after" I also will see my hematologist on the 15th and a dermatologist as well, I cant wait to get all of these appointments out of the way as I am kinda sick of feeling like i am sick and seeing so many drs!!!!
I am still scared because I dont know for sure if I will be on coumadin forever, although the likelyhood is that I wont, but I am also scared of coming off of it bc I dont want to go through this again!
Sorry this is soo long but this is a landmark day in my recovery!
182 days and counting - 6 mo down and 6 to go! I am officially half way there!!!!
and I hope that I will continue to make progress and strengthen my body and my lungs...and very importantly my mind!

We all have 24 hours in a day. How we spend these hours is important. Watching a little bit of a video about how sitting affects us made me aware of how much sitting and laying down I do. Gonna have to work on that.Your turn. Tell me another truth.
Next step is the 12 month.
From now on,you should see a difference in life, as in BETTER...
Carry on!!!
:-)
I think I'm getting better in many ways since I'm doing more daily activites. My day is still cut short by a small nap (which I never took before) and my lung is usually sore at the end of the day. I'm still hypervigilant about pains, but I guess we should be to a certain extent. The pains are real and I know that most people attribute it to stress, but I also think the lung pain is the "good" pain from our body healing. I am hoping and praying for a great 2009. I'll watch your countdown because that will be the approximate time that I'm doing my testing, as well. At this point- I'm still going "day to day" and not thinking too much about the future. Will be glad when I can get out more, work more hours and just be more like my "old" self! Have a happy six month anniversay!! Lori
I hear ya, sister. I was about to go for the counseling too ... then I found this site so ya'll have carried the burden of being my therapists - many, many thanks!
And I get the relationship thing too ... my guy is ever so patient ... but we have suffered a bit from this PE business, too. It's just one of those things that is hard for him to understand because he hasn't been there. My confidence was just shaken to the core ... I mean, how else are you supposed to feel when your body so utterly betrays you? As a woman, of course I've always been a bit insecure about this part or that part ... but the PE really threw something much bigger into the mix. I am slowly getting it back ... and that translates into how I handle myself in the relationship (and in life), too.
We're getting there!!! *Big Hugs!*
