2.5 years after massive DVT/PE

Hello everyone


Hope all are doing well..


Here is my profile and my concern follows it:


I had a massive DVT/PE (as my doctor described it). No obvious reason after all tests have been done. I chose to do a surgery to remove the clot and the results were amazing concerning the DVT. My doctor put me on xarelto, I took it for 10 months and quit taking it myself and I did not follow up with my doctor ever since (I did not mind dying at that time). Now, since two days ago I am having a bloody caugh sometimes. I do not know if that kind of normal for someone living with PE. So I am looking for your experience and insights please.

No, I don't consider coughing up blood 2.5 years after diagnosis to be normal.

Agree with rmb. After 2.5 years, there's no reason to assume that you still have PEs at all ... and I would expect that most damage caused by the PEs would be healed by now. Bloody cough is not normal at this point at all.

Thank you all for advising. Just one thing to clarify, what I meant by coughing blood was not that I had to cough, I did cough intentionally because I saw some blood. However, this just happened for two days in the morning only when I wake up.

Maybe it's blood from your nose draining down the back if your throught. I get that when the air is dry. But yeah, I still say it's not normal in relation to your past PE. I think if you're concerned, just see your doc.

I was told to return to the ER if I coughed up blood. You shouldn't hesitate to get checked for another PE.

    We all have 24 hours in a day.  How we spend these hours is important.  Watching a little bit of a video about how sitting affects us made me aware of how much sitting and laying down I do.  Gonna have to work on that.Your turn.  Tell me another truth.
