Were not always bad people

I seen this person a few times downstairs with the guys. He was of Indian decent. Always seemed just quiet, but I never really wanted to get to know him. I figured that when he was there he was just doing drugs with the other guys there. Didn't seem like a street person, and the other guys there didn't seem to bother much with them. Last week they were all sitting on the steps having a few beers, as usual in the hot weather. I wasn't doing anything, so I thought I would just join them for a little conversation. This person had an English accent, and seemed like a cheerie sort of person, and I was a little drawn to him. We talked a little and I could see he was a nice gentleman. He wasn't like the others, swearing and talking foolishness. I sensed that he was lonly, and just wanted to be with people. Anyway, because of the drinking and carrying on by the others, I decided to come back upstairs. On Thursday another person I knew dropped by and told me this person was dead. Aparently they found him in his room and he had taken pills, pain killers I think, and died from an overdose. Nobody is sure if it was intentional or not. He never seemed to be depressed or anything. Made me feel pretty sad tho. He's been on my mind for the last two days. I feel sorry that I might not have spent more time getting to know him. I don't know him, but it's just such a shame. He was only about forty five or so. That could easily have been me many times. I hope he's found his peace now. James

So mad at Xfinity! They're trying to charge me $115 per month for the same service I had been paying $50 the last four years. I took the equipment to UPS for shipping and cancelled my subscription today! Next door was a cookie shop called Crumbl. I had heard of it before but never went in until today. I don't need one more sugar fix, but maybe it will help with my sad) grieving heart....$15...

check out that smoke ring. It tasted really good. I smothered it with Maulls BBQ sauce which is Local to St. Louis and one of the best I ever had.....

Then in March I was watching the news when the anchor said, "There was a suspicious death of a 30 year old female from the west side, etc.." Then a photo of my niece came up on the screen. I sat frozen in shock. It turns out, she died of a drug overdose. She had 3 kids, one of them found her dead on the kitchen floor. She was abusing pain pills and god knows what else.
I took it really hard. I decided to get clean and tried to get her to do the same, she did not want to. I was angry at myself for not trying harder, but even her mom told me that she was going to do what she wanted and I should not feel bad.
It could have been me, too. -MANY TIMES!
Who knows why things go down the way they do, it is a crazy world. I am just glad I got the time with my loved ones I did and I miss them allot.
I stay clean and sober because I don't wish to play russian roulette with my body! I feel I owe that much to my family.
God Bless!
