Vicodin/ Oxycodone / Suboxone

Over 10 years of opiate use. Started with cough syrup. Did not even know what Cherry Tussin was, but I know I was working and drank a 480 ML bottle at my desk, it made me feel on top of the world. Then some one said you know these vicodin pills have the same thing, I was hook. Then when I was able to get Oxycodone from the streets, I was in 7th heaven. Finally in October 2020, someone turned me onto Suboxone to help me try and quit. I was good for about 3 months, then went back to alcohol and smoking 2 packs a day. After 13 years at my job, the company was acquired and I was laid off in Feb 2021. My suboxone guy raised the price and I realize althouth I have 26 weeks of severance, I can no longer afford the habit, so as of 4/11/2021, my last half of a pill was consumed. I am tired, hurting and my stomach is in knots and I used to be able to walk all day, now I can walk for 20 minutes max and I am done. I want my joy back!

check out that smoke ring. It tasted really good. I smothered it with Maulls BBQ sauce which is Local to St. Louis and one of the best I ever had.....

I was recently separated from my wife of 33 years and it's complicated. Anyway I rented a room about 15 minutes away and I see my kids about once a week. I see the people who own the house I live in once in a while but other than that I stay in my room where I do my cooking, wash dishes in the shower, read, color, and sleep. I get out at least once a day. I grocery shop and I attend 2 meetings...

Here, in this state, doctors won't prescribe suboxone unless you are going through a treatment program which I was. I stayed on them for about 3 months then I did a slow gradual wean over the next 3 months and didn't have any withdrawals except minor discomfort at times but it was alot easier then I thought it would be and that's probably because I hadn't been on them for very long. What others have told us in the past, in this group was that the longer you are on suboxone, the harder it is to get off them.
The good news is that it doesn't last forever. If you can stay clean for the first 2 or 3 months then you have it made. It takes the brain time to adjust itself to being without them. You will get your joy back but you may have to suck up the pain and discomfort for awhile so hang in there. You will make it if you stay focused and stay positive!. Don't be afraid to come here and vent if you feel the need. We are here to help.
