psychiatrists... xanax addict

So my psychiatrist told me.. after a year of prescribing me xanax that I've made no progression in my life.. maybe bc I numbed out and.became addicted to xanax... which isn't true. I was jobless since march and now have two very good part time jobs, working my ass off but feel almost out of the darkness. One of my jobs has a free counseling service they provide for their employees. Not only did I tell him I wanted off xanax he told me I will never be okay... and therapy couldn't help me and will make things worse... WTF. He keeps shoving me anti depressants as he rushes me like cattle out of his office. Confused, reaching for a xanax now. Help

Sounds like he isn't helping you one bit. Saying things like that is very unprofesional, but don't get yourself all worked up over the foolishness of someone else. Your going to meet many foolish people throughout your life, but don't reach for a zanax everytime. that's letting them have way too much control over you. You can't mess yourself up because of what somebody said. Your worth more than that. Find another Dr that ubderstands addictions. In the mean time, if you want, start cutting your usual dose in half, and take it only when you absolutely need it. Ask yourself that everytime you go to take one. Thank you for replying so quickly... I'm just so frustrated. I've tried tapering twice, this will be my last month. He said he will no longer give me refills which is whatever. I think the therapist I'm seeing is veruy helpful, I realize now more than numbing I needed to feel and speak... I just feel completely dependent on xanax. My family is embarrassed but tried to help.. at the end of my rope with the psychiatrist. Thx again

If I were you, I would get another psychiatrist! Don't let him treat you like that, he's just making you worse!

You might want to talk to a lawyer, sounds like you have a foolproof malpractice suit on your hands!

Bella.. I go back and forth, somedays I just need .25 others, like today, I've already taken .75... this week I'm supposed to be down to .5 a day. It's been hell..
I just felt like he didn't have my best interests in mind and still don't. He might be a great doctor but I'm having trouble respecting his decisions and choice of words lately. We will see, I go back in a week or so...

    So mad at Xfinity!  They're trying to charge me $115 per month for the same service I had been paying $50 the last four years. I took the equipment to UPS for shipping and cancelled my subscription today!  Next door was a cookie shop called Crumbl. I had heard of it before but never went in until today. I don't need one more sugar fix, but maybe it will help with my sad) grieving heart....$15...

    check out that smoke ring. It tasted really good. I smothered it with Maulls BBQ sauce which is Local to St. Louis and one of the best I ever had.....
