Hey everyone, I'm new on here.
I've been hooked on opiates for about 5 years now. I used to get them from my doctor. When I messed that up (altering a script) I switched to buying them on the street and/or stealing them from my roommate at the time.
Lately I've been buying suboxone, and have been taking it for months. I know for people addicted to stronger opiates like heroine, suboxone doesn't give you a high, but it definitely did for me. A couple of days ago I finally decided to stop. I know this road all too well and I know that everything can be lost so quickly.
Tonight is day 3 without them, and it really hurts. I can't shake this feeling of impending doom. This horrible gut crunching feeling that something terrible is going to happen to me or someone I love. I just wanted to get on here, type everything out, and read some of your stories. Doing this is helping me not to call my connection and get more strips. Thanks for helping me stay sober tonight.
Much love to all of you.

check out that smoke ring. It tasted really good. I smothered it with Maulls BBQ sauce which is Local to St. Louis and one of the best I ever had.....

I was recently separated from my wife of 33 years and it's complicated. Anyway I rented a room about 15 minutes away and I see my kids about once a week. I see the people who own the house I live in once in a while but other than that I stay in my room where I do my cooking, wash dishes in the shower, read, color, and sleep. I get out at least once a day. I grocery shop and I attend 2 meetings...

Nobody has to know where you are or why. The hospitals computers are not connected to the internet so nobody will know. Just say, you are in the hospital for some tests, that's all.
You can also go to an AA or NA meeting. Go early and talk to people. Get a sponsor and do the steps. They will help you alot like they did me.
Keep in touch with us here. The path you take on your road to recovery may help someone else.
I started taking two 5 miligram vicodin twice a day, for the same reasons as you. 3 years later, I was taking five 10 miligram vicodin, 3 times a day and I ended up in the hospital with renal failure as a result so you are doing the right thing by getting off those.
12 years ago, I nearly died as a result of my addiction to narcotics but today I have a great life and I have never been happier. I wish the same for you.
Keep in touch!
God Bless
