Hi, I was pretty active here for awhile but then disappeared. I still have my addiction. I really want to stop NOW. I have a great person in my life and I just came clean to her and to my dr. and counselor because I really want to be clean.
I need some advice especially from Bob in Maine.
If a person is going to taper of percocet, how many days inbewteen lowering doses is best? Also, my Dr, wants to put me on subnoxone, I am scared because I understand that is addicting also and can cause problems for people with lung disease like I have COPD and asthma.
I dont want to trade one bad thing for another.
The amount I am on right now is 40 - 60 mg a day of percocet. I really want to start tapering down before I detox and or start the suboxone. PLEASE reply with any help. thank you so much.

I was recently separated from my wife of 33 years and it's complicated. Anyway I rented a room about 15 minutes away and I see my kids about once a week. I see the people who own the house I live in once in a while but other than that I stay in my room where I do my cooking, wash dishes in the shower, read, color, and sleep. I get out at least once a day. I grocery shop and I attend 2 meetings...

Most people get addicted because they have other issues which cause emotional pain and narcotics temporarily make us feel better and numb us so we don't have to tolerate the pain.
In or outpatient treatment programs usually treat the other problems in our lives so we won't feel the need to reach for narcotics. Suboxone is a maintainance drug designed to help us through building our support system and when that is in place and we know our triggers and how to avoid them, we can wean off the suboxone with no withdrawals.
Hope that answers your question and congratulations on ur desire to change your life for the better.
God Bless and tc!
