Addicted to Ritalin

I haven't been on DS for a while now. My addiction was under control. I gave my Ritalin to my ex-husband & he was giving me my daily dose each day. I started askin him for extras & he'd say no. So I went to my dad, who is also on Ritalin & he'd give me extras. Now he won't cuz my ex told him not to give me anymore. Well last night I got pushy with my ex for an extra pill & he threw the bottle at me & said here's your fuckin pills. So of course I've been up all night takin pills. Oh, I don't take them by mouth. I crush them & snort them. I don't see anything wrong with snortin them, if I'm stickin to the dose prescribed to me. As it stands now, I'm gunna be short I think nine days. I can't get them filled till the 17th of this month. I dug my own hole so I'll have to deal with no pills for nine days. No pills just means I'll sleep more. I have to deal with my addiction on my own, cuz I have ADD & lack of energy without them. So I can't afford to be takin off them. I've gotten back on track before & I know I can do it again. I'd just like to make some friends on here who are goin thru the same thing as me to talk to during craving times. Maybe your coping skills will help me get thru the hard times. Thanks for listening.

You have a serious problem! Your ex husband knows it, your dad Knows it but you are in denial!

The dangers of snorting Ritalin can include the destruction or damage to the nasal and sinus cavities, nasal infections, irregular heartbeat, psychosis, aggression, agitation, circulation problems, toxic shock, and possible death.

Snorting a stimulant such as Ritalin while consuming alcohol in order to counteract the effects of a depressant such as alcohol may enable the user to consume more alcohol. This may result in alcohol poisoning, lead to an increase motor vehicle accidents, or DUI's.

In addition, snorting Ritalin can lead to Ritalin abuse or addiction which occurs when an individual eventually begins to depend on the high the drug provides. Addiction is characterized by increasing dosages and more frequent episodes of use followed by depression.

Please get help for yourself by telling your doctor what you are doing!

I've decided to go on once a day extended release Ritalin. That way I can stay on what works for me, but there won't be anymore snorting of the drug. I can also start to count clean days. Put the bad days behind me for good. I see my doctor in June & I'm gunna let him know what I decided. It's for the best, for me anyhow. Thanks for your support & prayers. It's gunna be hard switchin drugs, but it should get easier as time goes on.

Good girl! I am very proud of you for coming to those conclusions! Please make sure you carry them out, your family and friends would be devastated if anything ever happened to you!

Your doctor will make sure you get the help you need so please be totally honest with him....He will be the first to offer the help and support you so desparately need!

Before I decided to switch drugs, I had messaged my family doctor askin him to take over prescribing my Ritalin. My old doctor had me on four pills a day for a couple years & I had no problems with abuse. All I want is four a day, that way I can start my pills at 9am & take them all day & go to bed at 9pm. I'd be puttin in a 12 hour day. See I split my pills & take half every hour & a half & they last me all day. I have a friend who's on four a day. We take our pills at the same times every day. She worries about me when I am abusing my pills. She tells me exactly how she feels & she's very honest with me. She's not afraid to tell it like it is,. She's my support. So anyway I'm gunna schedule an appt with my family doctor on Monday I'll call him. I'm still on the right track. I'm gunna come out on top this time!

Oh honey I am so worried about you. Bob is right you are in serious denial and I'm afraid something serious is going to happen to you. Don't think for a moment that snorting those pills is (okay) because you are taking the same dose as you're suppose to. That is incorrect and ignorant thinking. I'm not trying to be cruel I just want you to wake up to reality before it's so serious that there is no turning back. My Psychiatrist put me on Adderall for my Chronic Fatigue and depression. I lasted on them for about 3 days. Couldn't stand them and in the garbage they went. Please listen to your family that loves you, it's so obvious. I am truly worried about you. Many hugs Gramybear

     I was recently separated from my wife of 33 years and it's complicated. Anyway I rented a room about 15 minutes away and I see my kids about once a week. I see the people who own the house I live in once in a while but other than that I stay in my room where I do my cooking, wash dishes in the shower, read, color, and sleep. I get out at least once a day. I grocery shop and I attend 2 meetings...
