I blame my weight gain on the Paxil I was taking prior to becoming pregnant. Some doctors don't even believe that this is a cause, but there is some scientific evidence to back us up.
I wish you luck. No one needs to be treated that way when pregnant. Our emotional state is already fragile without people trying to upset us. Sending lots of hugs your way...
My sister has obesity problems and it's really hard to watch her go through her life with all the weight, physically and mentally. She grew up like a bean stock but after Depo she ballooned out and after weigh watchers, excessive working out and serious diet changes (like completely cutting dairy out for over six months) she just never could shed even a couple of pounds.
It's heart breaking to know our culture can be so cruel and misunderstanding, but it's even worse to think you're going through such scrutiny from your own mother. Absurd!
Remember, more guys are into big girls than it seems. I think big girls are way more beautiful than those sticks walking the run ways. I'm positive you will turn out more caring and loving than your mother on this and probably a few other things, too. Try not to stress, just love yourself even if she just can't accept parts of you. *hugs*
1. Your mom has a boundary issue
2. She is concerned about you
3. She is poor at communicating respectfully with others.
What is your response when she asks you if the doc wants you to lose weight? I would reply that, "I understand that you think I should be skinnier, but I do not appreciate you constantly bringing up my weight. It does nothing to inspire me. It is NOT your business. If you do not drop my weight as an acceptable topic of conversation, I will lose 130 lb (or whatever) by minimizing my time with you." Then do it!
After you have the baby, and when you are ready to get in shape, please do not neglect vigorous exercise. I know there are so many articles that say you must walk 12 miles to burn off a single donut but that is untrue, as exercise increases the metabolism long after the workout, even when one is resting. Exercise, portion control, minimizing simple sugars and eliminating animal products work wonders. In the meantime, good luck with mom and be firm with her. Walk away or hang up when she nags you about weight.
I'm just regaining my appetite back and my mother has been on my case about eating for two. YES it is absolutely ok to indulge every now and then but my weight gain for my body type is only 20-25lbs during pregnancy. My mom thinks that's ridiculous and I need to gain like 40lbs.. It's not the 80's anymore when she had me, my brother and sister when she gained @ 50lbs with her pregnancy's. Times have changed as well as foods. I hate hearing her opinions on what she thinks is right and wrong! I'm healthy my baby is healthy and my doctor has said I'm doing everything right!
The scariest part is I'm sure we'll be doing the same thing to our daughters when they're having babies....Like mother like daughter.
I was on synthetic thyroid and gained a bunch of weight. I finally found a doctor who would treat me with natural thyroid and treat me for adrenal fatigue. I finally felt better and the weight came right off.
I got a lot of information from www.stopthethyroidmadness.com
Also, stay away from soy, MSG, and aspartame... they will all make you gain weight and are not healthy.
