NO pitocin, NO epi, NO friggin way.
I've seen the suggested movies and heard stories from friends. More bad than good - WAY more bad than good - and I consider one leg going numb and not being able to walk around bad... So I will be walking right out of the fkn hospital and delivering in the damn car if some jerk nurse gets sick of my long labor and even HINTS that I need to get either/or. I'm going to make it absolutely clear that the only reason I'm in the hospital is a) the father thinks its best and b) I'd prefer my first to be under the SUPERVISION (not direction) of doctors.
Your body is made to give birth. It releases all these hormones for you and the baby that help you birth faster and easier, creates a euphoric feeling at birth, and creates a bond between you and the baby. Love hormones are released when you give birth, unless they are interupted by interventions.
Laying on your back is the hardest most painful way to birth. You have no gravity helping you. The drugs they give you make labor longer and more difficult and lead to the next intervention.
Labor is only temporary, and it's so important for the body to do what it naturally does at birth- for both yours and the baby's well being.
