I just wanted to share with others here that I have recently been having some success with my PTSD and I think it is because I am practicing yoga. I have many issues, but a major one is body memories related to childhood sexual abuse. All the emotions are still carried in my body which remembers things that my mind had forgotten. I was abused in my sleep and I protect myself when I sleep to this day. Back in August 2010 I came to terms with the abuse and realized what has been going on. I started paying close attention to my feelings, recognizing my triggers and the PTSD became quite obvious.
Anyway, I have a lot of anxiety related to my body. Like Im nervous when I dress and I try to hurry up and change real quickly so I wont get caught naked. Ive been working on that. Stopping dressing slowly, telling myself that it is okay, taking a deep breath Its hard to calm myself down and just be.
I started taking a yoga class a few weeks ago and its making a big difference. That anxiety is manifested though tension in my body and as I stretch, release and breathe, that tension is leaving and the anxiety is lessening tremendously. I have to clear my mind and be at rest. I start to get anxious and I breathe and release. I go back to that during the day when I feel anxious and I relax. This is just what I need to be doing; its very healing.
I just wanted to share my thoughts on this in case it inspires someone else to find some solace. Is this helping anyone else here?

My 6mo twin DD's are EBF and just started rice cereal on the first. Everything has been going fine except this morning one of them had a diaper rash (lots of redness around her anus). I read this as one of the signs of an allergy. BUT I did just buy a different brand diaper yesterday (which they have used randomly before w/no issues). Do you think its the cereal or the diaper? Im ready to start...
I have been weight training for years, but a part of me has really started to rebel at how I have to "force" myself to exercise. I tired of being forced to do anything. Now I want to listen to myself. The challenge I have now is how do I maintain muscle tone and not gain weight, but do the yoga. I can't do power yoga as yet, as the instructor said I was way too stiff for it. For now I am doing a blend of weight training, and yoga, and really listening to what feels right.
Thank you for sharing. I am happy that it helps you too. It kind of feels like a miracle, doesn't it? To finally feel after being so shut down?
I really like this website: http://yogatoday.com
They have a free class every week.
