With respect, and a warm puma purr, to heck with "radical acceptance". Any acceptance takes time. I thought my childhood was 'normal' till suddenly my brain let the zommbies out of the basement, and here I am a decade later wondering, still, how I come to fully accept that this is what was, and what is. *Some* acceptance is how to start, is my only advice. Wish I had a cure, instead.

in my own case, in retrospect, i no longer believe that proverbial genie never did stay in its proverbial bottle. i just convinced myself that the toxic gases wafting up from the internal rot of all that denial and repression were a magical genie granting my wishes to be the perfect person i thought i should be.

but that is me and every case is unique. one person's rot is another person's hope.

OMG! Thank you all for all these warm and encouraging responses! wow! excellent, first of all! Yeah, damn I wish I could've orchestrated the time and place of my breakdown. Really inconvenient all around. My life was ordered, maybe even compartmentalized, my coping mechanisms- went from managing an Assisted Living Facility to breaking the pellets loaded in our pellet stove to make them all the same size. Next thing I know I'm throwing plates and a bowl near my husband and just coming apart. Therapy helps when its available but I'm gonna need more support than that. Again, gracias.
