i was raped. 2 years ago on a cruise ship. i heldnit all in. i felt like it was my fault - i still do. i walked into his room willingly and i think deep down i must have known. what was coming. he said he was drunk but i didnt smell any alcohol on his breath. it was my first time, too. i was so scared but i couldn’t do anything. i just wish i could forget about that night but whenever i’m with another guy it just brings me back...

Seems like the harder I work to suppress my traumatic injuries, the more viciously they infect and haunt me. Exposing them to fresh air and honesty heals. Hope it works that way for you, as well.

Welcome. It is kind of a no-win situation when you feel paranoid and guilty for thinking that all men might be rapists - and then guilty and complicit when one turns out to be! You are a human being - you should be able to live in this world and date and flirt and make out if you want to without getting raped. You're not worthless, you stand with millions of other women and men in this world. And you're not oversensitive either. Have you heard of HSP? Highly sensitive person. There are highly sensitive individuals in species from fruit flies to humanity - it's a normal genetic variation in vast numbers of living creatures with its own evolutionary advantages.

I hope you can stop blaming yourself and blame instead the vile behavior of an immoral opportunist. I also hope you will seek counseling or therapy to help you heal from the trauma you suffered. You can get support and even find a therapist by calling or texting the hotline at RAINN.org.
