Working Dreams - Weird Warning

arfie
A phenom I learned of in the Academic Halls of Language is poorly named for having been identified by a pack of Word Smiths. I have come to call it, "The Language Shuffle." It is a series of chaotic, multi-lingual dreams which seems to accompany the transition to making a home in a new language. In my own strictly personals, I believe my Neural Net was playing back every foreign language conversation I'd ever heard. Ow! Like moving through high winds in a concrete mill. . . Ow to the Ouched degree. . .
Circa 1998 (age 44), my Spanish professor got a twinkle in her eye when I told her of my dreams after she asked why I was falling asleep during class. There is no way I can quote the conversation, but today's synopsis is that she took it as a sign that I was ready to graduate from "Language Student" to "Language Apprentice." She believed my mind was taking Spanish out of the "Foreign Language" folder and creating a new folder for Spanish.
I have been taking note of this type of dream series in the nearly 17 years since. I have been calling them, "Working Dreams." I believe I am in such a series now. It doesn't seem worth the effort of remembering the dreams, but during this morning's dream, the image settled to loose fill insulation material floating down from the attic, then blowing gently across the floor into my compost bucket.
Not sure I have a weirder ramble in my Jabberwocky repertoire than dreams. . . Thanks for allowing it guys.

I did the dumbest thing today. I charged my earbuds, unplugged the block and put the block in my little bag instead of the earbuds. I wasn't happy about that when I got to the gym. What a dummy!

Ever since I stopped doing therapy because of insurance, I've been feeling that old tense and irritable sense of anxiety and stress. I hate that. I was making so many strides and changes during therapy, my therapist would acknowledge all of my progress and accomplishments, and I miss that reassurance. Today I thought about it, and I made those changes! She would always tell me that I chose to...
My dreams of late involve my late and unmissed dad and sis, telling me over and over how I screw up, and in the dreams, I only start to screw up when they appear and tell me that.... My dreams are busy busy places right now. And yet, when I reflect, I realize: my dad and sis appear as themselves. No monster masks, no horror film sets. That's new/rare for me... So what new working is my mind wreaking? No idea yet. But the idea of a Folder Being Opened... Or closed.... Of Working Dreams... Resonates very much.
THanks for sharing:-)
I hope I'm not far off topic, but the answer seems to be to let it be. The language of living is organic and non-programmable. Every place and every time needs new words for what's going on now.
Muji, As a general rule, my dreams are not very wordy. Sound, yes, words, not so much. Part of the shock in my own linguistic transition dreams was all those words!!! In MY dreams?? Yikes!!
In my waking hours, I often can't tell what language I am thinking in. Here in Texas, it is often considered rude for a non-moreno to understand a Spanish conversation, even when it is held loudly and in your face. Another place for that humming that drives so many people crazy. . . Sorry, folks. I can't take the knowledge from my mind fast enough for you to finish your racist dialogue.
