Why are some things so hard?

I'm feeling really down tonight. On the outside, I had a wonderful day. Spent time with my new puppy, went out to lunch with one of my best friends, got my hair cut, went out to dinner....so why do I feel so down. Most people would think my description would be an awesome day and I did enjoy and love so much of it! But my PTSD reared its head so much that it stole a lot of the joy. While I was enjoying lunch with my friend and chatting with my hairstylist, there was this huge part of me that just wanted to be curled up in bed under the covers crying because it was so hard to leave the house and be out in crowds around people. I also need to do some clothes shopping because the weather is warming up, but the idea of it just sounds so exhausting. All the little things that so many people take for granted, like running to the store. While I am proud of myself for getting out today, I am so exhausted tonight and yet there is still a part of me that feels too wired to go to sleep. Sometimes I just wish my nervous system had an off switch like a light does.

Jay's podcasts are really good. I watch them on YouTube for free. Today, I watched his video about motivation. In fact, I've been watching a few videos on this subject. Jay gave us an assignment to complete the following sentence: I am stuck because? I don't describe myself as stuck, but to finish the sentence, I would say that I am stuck because I am tired. When I have energy, I do...

Does anyone here have a comfort item you carry with you when you go out? For example this is my doll, Annie, and I've recently been bringing her with me when I run errrands flor have an appointment. Holding her comforts me. I've bought her clothes, crocheted for her, I recently bought a personalized blanket with her name on it. Just wondering if anyone else has a comfort item.

I can sympathize with wanting to curl up in a ball under a blanket feeling. And feeling totally overwhelmed and exhausted. Its like your brain is pulling you in two seperate directions and it can take everything out of you.
Hang in there, ok? You are making progress and doing things to take care of yourself, even if they are hard. And that is very admirable.
congratulations on having carried through on the good parts, despite the psychotic urges. i hope you will take the time to celebrate the success and to be gentle with the parts which are still wounded.
be gentle with yourself and patient with the process.
Sometimes I think that all we can take are baby steps and they are good steps in the right direction
I think Arf wrote it well 'be gentle with yourself and patient with the process'
If you are continuing to feel depression I hope that you'll see your doctor..... Big hug... xo
Puma purrs to you.
I just complete the sentence "I am grateful for ____ because ___ ."
Dr. Viktor Frankl's surviving the Nazi Holocaust with such logotherapy helped me keep it up these 5 years since I was tortured in Uruguay's 12 Year Night by Nazis there (see the Netflix film by that title). It works for me, maybe it might for you, too.
