I love you guys so much for all the support!!
I did not want to take anyone else's post to left field to go into my day. I put a full detailed description of my day in the chronic pain group... but not all of you are there and I did not want to leave you out!!!
My terror of having to drive myself was kyboshed by hubby who, with his 102 fever (not contagious), drove me.
For the first time ever today I found myself willing to give up walking on my own to use a scooter provided by a store (Target). It sounds strange, people use them all the time, but I have been fighting with every waking breath to stay out of wheelchairs or scooters. I gave that up today. If I had a scooter I could go and do so many things I have just given up on ever doing again.
I was in a pretty defeated attitude by the time I say the doctor. She spent a good 20 minutes trying to get me to explain what gives me hope in my life. I just finished a Bachelor's degree with a 3.6 GPA, there must be something that motivates me... She did not like that I use my horses for hope, because I am not physically able to do it and will take two or three days worth of opiates to get through the day. I had no other answers for her.
She also did not like that in my mid-40s I am ready to go on long lasting permanent pain killers. If I can't get through this week, how the heck can I get through 20 years?
I did NOT tell her I get through things because I am dogged and relentless. I pick a goal that is close and get it done, then move to the next one - as taught to me by my psych doctor. Sometimes those goals are as small as pick up this one item and put it away. I also brought up that I HAVE to get us packed and out of this house before the mold kills us. After I brought up that I really hate opiates and would like to get away from them - that got her to do something.
For the first time since March 3rd, 2005 my crushed spine is being treated with something other than opiates!!! Tonight I start a slow progression to a working dose of Gabatentin.
Supposedly it will help me sleep. I can only hope.
My Misha was great. Of the 10 or so other Service Dogs (and fake Service Dogs) we saw, she was the best behaved, not tying once to get to any of the other dogs, even the ones who had to be restrained by multiple people. She looked at them, but that was it. She got lots and lots of hugs from me and hubby.

it might be my monkey, but it is not my circus!!!!!

Just wanted to give a thank you to Mid, Arfie, Malibumark, Greeneyes, Mlro, Girlincalif, and Suncloudjd! You all always have such helpful tips and advice, but I always forget to write on my posts when I see you post, lol. I would lose my head if it wasn't attached to my body, lol. Thank you all so much! I'm starting to use my AI app as a sounding board again. I used to use it as that before...

Hey all, i know its been quite awhile since i posted on here. Its been a summer all right. Its been something else........... You know how they say not to open the can of worms? Well a few months ago i decided to find out what my due date would have been for my first baby, the one conceived by r***. My baby would have been due on March 4th of 2006. They would be 20 years old. I was R**** on June...

I do not go to CP though I have all the qualifications---I got cozy with my buds on Fibro---but my lower spine and pelvis took heavy damage in 6/2011, and I am like you, relentless, dogged, and focused on short-term.... Icannot let myself imagine 20-40 years of life like this or there goes the last hope--- so I know too well some of what you're describing. Right down to the pain med situation, though I can't take gabapentin. (Epilepsy issue. It's used for tthat but it would screw up my other seizure meds.)
But I am SO glad you're gonna get a try at it! Lot of people find it really helps and it definitely can be a sleepy-time sort of ting, so I will keep my toes and fingers and furry tail crossed for you:-)
(And thumbs up to Misha!)
Love that: Your monkey but not your circus, amen!
:-)
PS Why's it's bad ot hope b/c of a horse? There were days my cat's purr was all that got through to me. Silly docotors.
I always felt so negative about those little carts at the shops but my option became sitting at home when I had hip trouble.
I started thinking of them as go karts and I loved go karts as a kid. For whatever reason, that made it more fun for me to use them.
I hope you find some answers for your pain management.
Sorry... Miss Bee Haven, again.
Great update, yadim. Quite a balancing act! Sounds like you are balancing it well.
