I've been away for a bit, our internet/phone company changed some stuff, so I had to install a new router (which took a few days to arrive), rewire everything and convince it to work.
Mostly, I've been looking for a job the last few days, since I'm starting to develop some slight cabin fever. I've applied to a few places, but I haven't heard anything back yet.

Yesterday I went swimming with friends. When one of my best friends and I came out and waited for the others, there was a family, parents with their daughter, who couldn't have been older than 6. She fell, hurt her knee and started crying. Her father's reaction was to walk over and punch her in the face. Couldn't have been the first time either, since as soon as she saw her father approaching, she tried to hide behing her mother (who did nothing).
I've been at the wrong end of that kind of situation a few times at that age, so the temptation to go over there and punch *him* was... well. I didn't though, that wouldn't have ended well for any of those involved. But oh, I wanted to! Luckily, my friend helped me stay calm.
Instead we waited for them to go to their car, wrote down the numberplate and called the police, who said they'd check who the car belongs to and call child services.
Now, I don't exactly have the most faith in child services, but I couldnt think of anything else to do. I hope they don't screw it up and that little girl will be alright.
