It turned out that for me my therapist said that was a good sign that I wasn't getting off on my stories any more and that I was ready for real healing. I was looking for stability instead of being the adrenaline addict that my traumatic past life had led me to become. My extreme past experiences were no longer entertaining to me any more.
From there I got into a face to face support group. Since people in that group had extreme life experiences, too, some more than mine, it helped me with getting past that burnt out feeling about my own so I could focus on the healing.
Don't know if that helps, but I do appreciate your being honest about skipping therapy sessions, veronica. It led me to remember why I skipped mine at one point, and what it meant in terms of shifting gears in my recovery journey. Much support to you as you figure out what it means in yours.
Journaling has helped me so much. You won't see the help right away, but if you journal about your childhood, recreate the history and chronology of events, and also journal day to day feelings about events, this is a very good way to understand what is happening to you, and it helps to express yourself.
You can also write letters to God or people you are angry with. This is a catharsis also, that helps me.
