I dissociate (go numb and disappear inside myself) after my explosive rages. It's like the explosion sucks the life right out of me and I'm afraid to let myself out of my "cage" without a muzzle and a handler equipped with a taser gun. The good news is that therapy work has helped me recognize and deal my anger before it has a chance to go "BOOM."
As for making amends to my husband after I have exploded at him. . . In addition to the most honest and sincere disclosure I can muster to what's going on, I believe that working my therapy program is the best amends available to me. I need to put a qualifier on the honest and sincere disclosure because. . . Well. . . Those explosive rages are even more confusing on the inside than they are on the outside.
I agree with arfie: If you can express what happened, what it felt like to your husband it may make it easier to deal with. I know it's a huge challenge trying to put something in words that is so confusing and so hard to explain. It may help to say: "I'm confused and not sure about how I can explain this."
Of course I can't tell, but could it be that the rage has built up inside you for a longer period of time?
You say you miss therapy... any chance you could get to see a therapist?
Wishing you all the best
I miss the feeling of being able to talk about my feelings and everything that goes on in my head.
I bet I sound crazy as all get out...I'm sorry for that.
