Homes and churches are supposed to be safe for us as kids, but I experienced prolonged abuse in both settings.

It is a horrible tragedy. My prayers go out to their families, the community, and the members of their church. Thank God the human debris was apprehended and hopefully will never see the light of day.

I make no bones of my love for God and how he has loved me always when others have not. The way I choose to understand this is that God needed these people at this time because they all have special talents. Talents God needed now to prepare the services and mansions in heaven. I know that these people are at home with God.

Thank you for the post Muji, with all the publicity surrounding the color of the killers skin, the main thing is we send our support to the victims and their families. It should have been a safe place.

I told 2 DS PTSD member friends by private message today that I read a news article this morning that said Roof almost didn't start shooting Wednesday night at Emanuel AME in Charleston, SC. For the hour he was in the church beforehand, the people there were so nice to him.

I am so sorry that whatever prejudice he brought in the door with him was stronger than the hospitality he himself says he was shown. I went to a Methodist seminary for my hospital chaplaincy training. There about a third of my classmates were African Methodist Episcopal members. Again, the AME is the denomination to which the Charleston, SC church also belonged.

The image of people like my classmates being gunned down in response to their hospitality grieves me.

tragedy beyond words i am sure it was not only a hate crime but a crime of a person who most definitely was disturbed in a deep way and no excuses thank God he was stopped ,, before he killed more than nine this is something that is beoming common place in our society and we all lose , nobody wins the grief and sorrow of those family members suffering now will be in prayer

As my church pastor said this morning that we (congregation) ought to keep the shooter in our prayers as well as the nine innocent people he shot and killed.
I am so glad that the police caught him when they did. He still could be out there killing again.
