This week my favorite definition of success is where I am able to enjoy my wake-up stretch with wandering wonders of, "Wow! It is another day."
Am I there yet?
Well . . .
Do remember that my normal-for-me happy face can frighten small children . . .
So far the not so gentle shift in focus to, "What's Next" is providing a tasty chew. So far. That vigilance instinct is still threatening to go hyper on me, but responding reasonably well to grounding strokes on the head. Of course there are a kajillion things that can go wrong, Silly Beast. There are an equal number of things that can go right. 50 - 50 shot on the dualistic logics such as, "Right/Wrong." Each step be a coin toss. . .
The ice box is filling up with Fridge Art. First the reservation sheets. Now the copy and paste prints of places we might like to go. Opportunities to get lost or mugged? Breaking out in traditional "MIL / DIL" waltzes? Places a toddler can play in heavy traffic? Wall street shysters looking for a mark? Wall street victims in a bell tower with a high power rifle? Quiet, you Silly Beast. Pay attention to calming your hyper nature.
. . . and here comes the "Courage to Change" share, gently edited to fit my current day.
"A jogger was nearing the end of a run. Sand dunes on the left blocked his view of the beach beyond. Crossing the dunes would require extra effort after a long, tiring workout. Instead, he could opt to remain on the flat road that veered off to the right. Although the scenery was less appealing, the easier route was enticing. Past experience had taught him to avoid pushing himself too hard. Yet he loved the sight of the ocean.
"The jogger hesitated. An inner nudge urged him toward the dunes, and he chose to respond to it. As the beach appeared, a spectacular sunset hovered above the crashing waves. Humility whelmed the runner when he realized that in his moment of hesitation, he had listened to a power greater than himself. One who could see around blind corners.
"Today's Reminder
"Logic may dictate a certain course of action while my inner voice urges me in a different direction. I may have an easier time when I follow the dictates of logic, convenience, or past experience, but am I cheating myself out of something much better? Today I will pause at a crossroad and listen for the gossamer whispers.
"The intellect has little to do on the road to discovery. There comes a leap in consciousness, cal it intuition or what you will, and the solution comes to you and you don't know how or why." ~Albert Einstein
Just percolating . . .

I did the dumbest thing today. I charged my earbuds, unplugged the block and put the block in my little bag instead of the earbuds. I wasn't happy about that when I got to the gym. What a dummy!

Ever since I stopped doing therapy because of insurance, I've been feeling that old tense and irritable sense of anxiety and stress. I hate that. I was making so many strides and changes during therapy, my therapist would acknowledge all of my progress and accomplishments, and I miss that reassurance. Today I thought about it, and I made those changes! She would always tell me that I chose to...
to me success is to continue to strive despite obstacles... It's not a goal but a process. It's not the end of th eroad, but the way I travel the road.
I use to look at success as having it all. A good job, moving up the corporate ladder, lots of money, toys in the drive way, vacations, friends, and family.
Today I look at success much differently. My health and well-being, my family's health and well-being, my friends health and well-being, gratitude, finding happiness and contentment, spending time with people I love, trying to get through a full day without being interrupted by PTSD, depression or anxiety, etc.
I feel less accomplished in my new outlook on success but maybe that is only because I am less experienced with it.
Pondering right along with you Arf!
Success is the Art of Getting Up once more than you have Fallen.
Success is Responsibility.
Whichever way the party blows, it be the "Successful One's" responsibility to clean up the mess, no matter which party member made the mess.
