I am no fan of Santa Day, but I always find myself wanting to celebrate the winter solstice. The increasingly long nights seem to affect every aspect of my being and knowing the days will start getting longer at the end of this week has me equally relieved.
Anybody else?

My day...today...misplaced my debit card...didn't realize it until I got to the register after shopping to a full cart. Used a different debit card and pulled apart everything looking for missing debit card before I left parking lot. Got home, dropped keys. So now I have a missing debit card, missing keys. I posted on another thread here that it's been dark this week by 5pm every day where I live. The result is "Seasonal Affect Disorder" or "S.A.D." Sundown being so early doesn't brighten my day, so I'm glad you pointed out that it's going to begin to turn around after this week.
Adds to the S.A.D. mightily. . . Longer days are something to celebrate in Arf World!
Beyond that...winter is MY season. (Chronic insomnia...and the dark REALLY helps me sleep.)
I got a pair a few years ago for 5 bucks... (not very fashionable) but they worked great
