I have this lingering problem of being ultra sensitive to other's anger. I feel incredibly vulnerable a lot of the time, and when i get upset with someone, I can't say anything about it. Because I couldn't cope with them being angry or upset. I have a friend who expresses anger at other people than me, but I feel affected by it, unnerved.Distresssed.
I just wondered if anyone else is like this. A long time ago, I went to a drug and alcohol rehab which was all about yelling and screaming at each other about all what we were doing 'wrong'. I stayed in this place for 5 months, getting pulverised in group. And here it is, many years later, I can't cope with anger. I feel I can't be assertive at all.

I'm very angry person myself but i try not to express it around the one friend i have.
My ex-boyfriend had a real prob with road rage while driving and it was so uncomfortable to drive with him..............I finally decided to not put myself in that situation since i told him many times but he continued to do it.
Some people get very scary when they are angry. And they should make an effort not to scare the people around them did not cause the anger...
I got a lot of anger myself and do try very hard to not display it around those who did not cause it.
Yes, I am like this.
Equally, it is not reasonable to expect the world to turn into a Disney Cartoon just to protect my delicate senses. Anger is part of the human condition and I have to stretch my comfort zone if I want to be part of the full human experience.
I wonder if stretching your own comfort zone is why you are attracted to this particular friend. Opposites frequently do have much to teach one another.
I am hyper-aware of the slightest switch in a tone of voice or facial expression. I am constantly aware of peoples' energy and disposition and I change accordingly, either shutting down, getting out, running away or acting appropriate to the situation.
Anger makes me VERY uncomfortable - and I don't think there's a reason to be surprised by that, given my upbringing.
