Second week down

A week and a half in treatment and this morning I'm telling myself it's a dream. I'm here with my kiddo telling myself that over and over again just to be present. That's a dream. All of it. The need for treatment and the things we are processing or not processing. Things just linger in the air and I feel like I need it to rain just so everything will settle.

Marah, given that I've had flashbacks daily since being car bombed as a missionary kid in Uruguay at 9, what's really happening now, what's a memory, and what's nightmare have been constants in my life. I had to embrace it somehow, so first off I got a doctorate in Spanish literature, emphasis Uruguayan fiction, just so I could start to sort fact from fiction.

Edgar Allan Poe was, believe it or not, an inspiration. I say believe it or not because if you know his bio, it wasn't good. But still, the fact that authors write fiction opened the door to my knowing there are many who deal in what's real and not real, it's not just me. Libraries are full of their books from thousands of years. It's not for nothing.

I saw The Alan Parsons Project band play Edgar Allan Poe's words live last year to celebrate that I'd managed to embrace my dream/reality problem to the point that I teach about it at community college. I've still alive even though I never solved the dream/reality problem, but no one has.

Yaaaaaay! You're a week and a half in. That's a success! Sure you have more to go, but we all do. Good for you for what you've started.
