Hello, I'm not sure if I belong here because I do not know for sure if I have PTSD but I do have OCD and anxiety.
I've had this problem for as long as I can remember: I am scared of babies. Especially hearing a baby cry. Not just the "Boy, that baby cry is very annoying!" sort of thing but a "I just want to fall down and cry" sort of feeling. I don't know why. Sometimes I will see a picture of a baby and want to cry. Thankfully, whenever there is an actual baby nearby, I can keep it together mostly. Inside, though, I'm hoping that I don't have to interact with it or do anything like that. I'm sure I come across as very callous.
It was a heck of a lot worse when I was a kid. My brother has autism and when we were younger he cried a lot. I've always thought that had something to do with it.
Sometimes I get these weird thoughts or things that feel like "flashbacks" or daydreams, and they feel so real that I want to cry. Common themes for these thoughts are babies, children, family, parents, toys, childhood.

She told me that the guy who raped and beat me 21 years ago now almost 20 years at that time, was in prison as of a month before that...

Sometimes, I think I have ODD. I can be oppositional. It seems that the only times that I feel like cleaning are when I should be doing something else or I have to go somewhere. Well, not everytime but most of the time. Yesterday, I was supposed to be doing online training for work but instead, I decided to work on my kitchen table. Most of the time, I don't know where to start and give...

Simple awareness is always my first step toward dealing with my psych symptoms. When are they happening? What are the triggers? What sequences follow the trigger event? A journal or log of the events helps me keep my facts straight and spot patterns in the cycle.
Gentle support while you find what works for you, Daggett. Welcome to DS.
